About the HLSAA:
In recent years, the number of Harvard Law School alumni working and residing in the Arab World has steadily been on the rise. The need to enhance connectivity between these alumni and improve their links with the wider HLS community has been publicly recognised on numerous occasions by the Law School, in particular by former Harvard Law School Association (HLSA) president Harold Hope III and the current Dean, Martha Minow. As a response to this call, on 24th April 2009, approval for the establishment of the Harvard Law School Association of Arabia (HLSAA) was granted at the Annual meeting of the main HLSA in Cambridge. The creation of this long overdue regional association is undoubtedly already making a significant contribution to the global community of Harvard Law School alumni.
Malik Dahlan was asked to oversee the establishment of HLSAA and assume its leadership as the founding HLSAA President. The Association is already establishing links with the wider Harvard Arab Alumni Association (HAAA) with a view to connecting with even more HLS alumni who may already be using the HAAA network. The Association is also actively working with the Executive Committee of the HLSA, particularly given the latter’s global regional strategy.
