Affiliated with Institution Quraysh for Law & Policy, the independent Institute for Policy Research is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in Washington DC. 


The Institute for Policy Research (IPR) harnesses legal and political economy thinking and promising social sciences research to deliver policy impact to world leaders. Making use of policy intelligence, a virtual platform and a global network, IPR fosters a spirit of innovative, practical policymaking and international collaboration. With a confirmed network of Global Governors and Academic Policy Advisors as well as notable researchers, IPR was launched in April 2012 at the Harvard Law School Association of Arabia 125th Anniversary Celebration in Doha, Qatar.

Objectives

  • Promote and strengthen the rule of law globally;
  • Address issues of global economic and legal significance, including institutional design, global governance and world peace;
  • Enhance legal and economic development through advocacy of sound laws and policies; and
  • Equip young policy makers and create a policy bridge between theory and implementation

IPR pursues these objectives by

  • Encouraging research and debate on global governance issues with academic organizations and cultural institutions;
  • Undertaking cutting-edge research to stimulate critical thinking about global governance;
  • Nurturing collaboration between people with diverse skills, perspectives and backgrounds; and
  • Bridging research with policy and practice by engaging leaders in the public and private sectors.

Current Projects

  • Reforming regional cooperation models including the GCC model using ideas open regionalism, incrementalism and soft-institutionlization from APEC model;
  • Environmental Law & Policy (Agenda for COP 18);
  • Saudi Judicial Engagement Project & establishing an Arab JD program; and
  • Solar Energy & Energy Efficiency initiative in affiliation with Green Gulf and Chevron (both parties already involved; including pilot project at Harvard Law School).

Long Term Goals

  • Middle East Security & Peace: Explore areas such as international mediation, energy policy, food & water policy, international trade, and economic development;
  • Raising Arab legal education standards; and
  • Connecting regional leaders around the world through virtual platform.
